The short version: GTA shutter companies mostly work the same way: a free in-home consultation, shutters made in or near Toronto, and their own installers, with wood and vinyl both on offer. What varies is the material, the lead time and the warranty. The other route is ordering online and fitting them yourself.
The companies, in their own words
- The Original California Shutters (Concord): “Founded in 1981”, “Proudly Made in Ontario”; it measures, makes and installs[1].
- California Shutters Toronto: “premium poplar wood”, “100% Canadian Made”, in-home consultations and certified installers[2].
- Shutter Outlet: a poly-vinyl composite plantation line and a poplar wood line, free in-home consultation and installation, “measured, custom-built, and installed within 2 to 4 weeks”[3].
- Starlight Shutter (Scarborough and Mississauga showrooms): basswood, vinyl and PVC; lifetime on hardware and installation, 25 years on panels and louvres, original purchaser[4].
- ShutterLux (Markham and other Ontario showrooms): PVC with an aluminum core, plus wood and vinyl; about two to three weeks to process an order[5].
- Craftsman Shutter (Scarborough, since 1995): 25-year warranty on interior panels when it installs, 15 when it doesn’t[6].
- Canadian Shutters (Toronto): a polyresin composite with an aluminum core, its own installers, a 15-year warranty and two to three weeks from consultation to installation[7].
- Ava Window Fashions (North York): wood, faux wood and vinyl, free installation, “1 Week Delivery”[8].

How long do California shutters take in Toronto?
GTA companies quote anything from about a week to four weeks: Ava Window Fashions advertises one-week delivery, Canadian Shutters two to three weeks, ShutterLux two to three weeks to process an order, and Shutter Outlet two to four weeks from measure to installation.
Are California shutters in Toronto wood or vinyl?
Both. Several GTA companies sell PVC, vinyl or composite shutters for wet rooms alongside wood; some sell poplar or basswood. Ask each company which material its quote is for.
Can I buy California shutters online in Toronto?
