How it works

  1. Measure

Width at three heights, height at three points, and the depth to the glass. About ten minutes a window.

  2. Design

Choose your look once, add every window, and see each one drawn and priced.

  3. We check

We review every size and layout before anything is made, and ask if something looks off.

  4. We make and ship

Built to your sizes in American poplar and shipped to your door.

  5. You fit them

Fix the frame, hang the panels, adjust. A drill, a screwdriver and a level.

    How to install

Made to measure, not cut to fit

Some “shutter kits” come in set sizes that you trim to fit. That’s where DIY shutters go wrong: an uneven cut shows, and a panel cut too short can’t be fixed.

We build every frame and panel to your measurements. If your opening is out of square, tell us in the designer and we’ll suggest a mounting frame that covers the difference.

What you save

Fitting them yourself means you pay for the shutters and shipping, not a measuring visit and an install crew. A 36 × 48 in window in poplar starts at $320 – $400 ($460 – $570 CAD).

Questions about doing it yourself

Is this a kit I cut to size?

No. Some “DIY shutter kits” come in set sizes that you trim to fit. We make each shutter to the measurements you send, so there’s nothing to cut. You fit the frame and hang the panels.

How hard is it to install plantation shutters yourself?

If you can drill a pilot hole and use a level, you can fit them. The hard part is measuring, and we check every measurement before anything is made.

What tools do I need?

A drill with bits, a screwdriver, a level and a tape measure. Each order ships with instructions for the frame you chose.

What if I measure wrong?

We check every order before production and ask about any size that doesn’t add up. If a shutter arrives and doesn’t fit, contact us before you cut or force anything.

Can I still get someone to install them?

Yes. Ask on your quote and we’ll tell you which independent installers work in your area. You arrange and pay the installer directly.
