The short version: Norman makes several shutter lines, from wood composite to solid Paulownia, sold through retailers who visit, measure and install. We make one solid poplar shutter that you price online and fit.
Norman’s lines, in its own words
- Woodlore: “advanced wood composite materials” with a polypropylene finish[2].
- Normandy: “100% premium solid hardwoods”, Paulownia, with quarter-sawn louvers and over 50 standard colours and stains[3].
- Brightwood: “premium hardwood panels” with an “EcoSmart wood-composite frame”[4].
- AquaShield and Woodlore Plus use ABS polymer louvers for wet rooms[1].

Where Norman is stronger
- Range: more louver sizes (including 1⅞ and 3 in), about 14 frames, waterproof lines, and motorized tilt[1].
- A professional measures and installs, so the fit is the retailer’s responsibility.
Where we’re different
- Solid wood across the board, not composite at the entry level.
- Prices you can see: $320 – $400 for a 36 × 48 in window in the US ($460 – $570 CAD in Canada), before tax and shipping.
- No appointment: design and order when it suits you, and fit them yourself.
Our shutters are one product: solid American poplar, made to the measurements you take, priced online window by window, and fitted by you. Price your windows

Common questions
Are Norman Woodlore shutters real wood?
Norman describes Woodlore as made from “advanced wood composite materials”. Its Normandy line is solid hardwood (Paulownia), and Brightwood pairs hardwood panels with a wood-composite frame.
Can you buy Norman shutters online?
Norman sends buyers to authorized retailers and an in-home design consultation; we didn’t find a way to buy direct online on its site.
What is Norman’s shutter warranty?
Lifetime against defects for as long as the original purchaser owns the product, with a 3-year finish warranty on most lines (lifetime on Woodlore and Monterey), and labor, measuring and installation excluded, per its warranty page.
