How to install your shutters
A drill, a level and a screwdriver cover it. Your order ships with instructions for the frame you chose; where they differ from this page, follow them.
The steps
- Unpack and match. Every frame and panel is labelled with the window name you gave it. Check them against the packing list before you start.
- Assemble the frame. If the frame arrives in pieces, join the corners following the instructions in the box.
- Dry-fit and level. Set the frame in the opening and check it with a level. Use shims behind it where the opening dips so the frame stays straight and square.
- Fix the frame. Drill through the frame’s pre-drilled holes into the window jamb and drive the screws. Don’t overtighten; it can pull the frame out of square.
- Hang the panels. Line the hinge halves on each panel up with those on the frame and drop in the hinge pins.
- Adjust and finish. Close the panels and check they meet evenly. Adjust shims or hinges if not, then fit the catches and cover the screw heads.
If something doesn’t fit
