Updated
The short version: Wayfair is a home marketplace, and its window treatments menu lists curtains, blinds and shades, not shutters. Search it for shutters and you’ll find individual listings, often ready-made louvered panels in set sizes. A plantation shutter is a different product: built to your window, with a frame and louvers that tilt. That’s what we make.
What Wayfair sells for windows
On wayfair.com, the Window Treatments menu lists “Curtains & Drapes”, “Blinds & Shades” and “Window Treatments Sale”[1]. Wayfair Canada’s menu lists the same three[2]. We didn’t find a shutters category on either. Wayfair’s family of stores also includes AllModern, Birch Lane, Joss & Main and Perigold[1], and the US site advertises “Fast & Free Shipping Over $35*”[1].
That matters if you searched for “Wayfair shutters”: what you’ll find are listings from individual brands and sellers, each with its own sizes, materials and terms, rather than a Wayfair shutter line.
A typical shutter listing
One example: the “Cedar Green Solid Wood Louvered Shutter Pair”, described as “Unfinished solid pine wood” and “Adaptable for a variety of indoor & outdoor uses”[3]. It comes in set heights (47, 51 and 59 in were shown) at 15 in wide, checked October 30, 2026[3]; the price is on the listing. It’s a pair of louvered panels that you paint or stain yourself; check the listing for what hardware, if any, comes with it.
Panels like this have their place: a decorative look, a cupboard, a craft project, a budget fix for one window. But they’re a different thing from a plantation shutter, and the difference shows up when you try to fit one to a real window.

Why fixed sizes are hard to fit
Windows are rarely a neat multiple of a stock panel width. A 36 in wide window takes two 15 in panels with 6 in left over, or three panels that don’t fit. Builders’ and older houses alike have openings that are a little out of square, so even a near-match can bind or leave a gap. Ready-made panels also need hinges, a hanging strip or a frame you build yourself unless the listing includes them, and a finish on every louver, which is slow work by hand.
A made-to-measure shutter takes that work away. You measure the opening, choose inside or outside mount, and the frame, panels, louvers and hinges arrive built to it. Our measuring guide covers the five measurements per window, and the installation guide shows the fitting in six steps.
Measuring for a made-to-measure shutter
The step that worries people most is measuring, and it’s simpler than it looks. Decide first whether the shutter sits inside the window opening or on the trim around it. Inside vs outside mount
- Inside mount: measure the width of the opening at the top, middle and bottom, and the height at the left, middle and right. Give us the smallest of each.
- Depth: measure from the front of the opening to the glass, and to any handle or crank. It decides which louver size can tilt without hitting the window. Choosing a louver size
- Outside mount: measure the area you want covered, including the trim the frame will sit on.
Every window is measured on its own, even in a row of windows that look the same. That’s the point of made to measure: a window an eighth of an inch narrower than its neighbour still gets a shutter that fits.
What finishing a raw panel involves
An unfinished louvered panel needs sanding, a primer and at least two coats of paint, on both faces of every louver and into the corners where louvers meet the stiles. Spraying is quicker but needs space and masking; brushing a louvered panel by hand takes hours per panel. Our painting guide covers it step by step, whether you’re finishing a raw panel or repainting old shutters. Factory-finished shutters arrive with that work done.

Shutters on a budget: three honest routes
Price is usually why people look for shutters on a marketplace, so here are the realistic ways to keep the cost down:
- Ready-made panels for decorative spots. Where a window doesn’t need to open, tilt or fit tightly, a stock panel and an afternoon of painting can do the job for little money.
- Made to measure, a room at a time. Bedrooms first, where privacy and light control matter most, then the street side, then the rest. Each window is priced on its own, so later rooms cost the same and match the first. Are plantation shutters worth it?
- Shutters where they count, shades elsewhere. A shade on a wide slider or in a spare room costs less than shutters across the same glass, and a house can mix the two without looking unplanned.
Whichever route you take, price the finished result: a shutter that’s cheap to buy but needs a frame, hinges, paint and a weekend of fitting isn’t always the cheaper option once it’s on the window.
Who should choose which
| What you need | Better fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A decorative louvered look, a cupboard door or a craft project | A ready-made panel | Cheap, and it doesn’t need to fit a window exactly |
| Light and privacy control on a real window | A made-to-measure plantation shutter | Tilting louvers in a frame built to the opening |
| A whole house of matching windows | Made to measure | Every window built to its own size, same louver and colour throughout |
| Curtains, rugs and furniture at the same time | Wayfair | One marketplace for the rest of the room |
| A wide sliding door | A shade or blind | Shutters on wide sliders need a lot of panels |
How to compare a marketplace listing with a made-to-measure quote
- Work out how many panels each window needs, and what’s left over at the sides.
- Add the parts the listing doesn’t include: hinges, a frame or hanging strip, primer and paint, and your time to finish every louver.
- Check whether the louvers tilt. Fixed louvers block the view but don’t adjust.
- Read the seller and the return terms, since marketplace listings come from different suppliers.
- Price the same window made to measure in our designer and compare the finished, hung result. What shutters cost
If you were shopping Wayfair for blinds or shades
Our sister company, Shade Boys, makes shades and blinds to your measurements: motorized roller shades, zebra blinds, cellular shades, roman shades, wood blinds, indoor solar shades and patio door blinds. A shade on the slider and shutters on the windows is a common mix.
Which to choose
For a decorative louvered panel, or a room of furniture and curtains in one order, Wayfair’s marketplace is quick and inexpensive. For shutters that fit your windows, open and tilt like plantation shutters, and arrive finished and ready to hang, choose made to measure. Our shutters are one product: solid American poplar, made to the measurements you take, priced online window by window, and fitted by you. Price your windows

Common questions
Does Wayfair sell plantation shutters?
Wayfair’s Window Treatments menu, on both wayfair.com and wayfair.ca, lists Curtains & Drapes and Blinds & Shades, with no shutters category. Some individual listings are shutters, such as a fixed-size louvered pine pair, but we didn’t find framed, made-to-measure plantation shutters in its menus.
How much are Wayfair shutters?
Each listing has its own price, shown on the listing. The louvered pine pair we looked at on October 30, 2026 comes in fixed sizes, 15 in wide. That’s a ready-made panel you finish and hang yourself, so it isn’t a like-for-like comparison with a made-to-measure shutter.
What warranty do Wayfair shutters have?
The listing we read didn’t state a product warranty. Check each listing’s details and the seller before you buy.
Are Wayfair louvered shutters the same as plantation shutters?
Not usually. The listing we read is a pair of louvered panels in set sizes, unfinished pine, “Adaptable for a variety of indoor & outdoor uses”. A plantation shutter is built to your window: a frame, hinged panels and louvers you tilt for light and privacy.
Is there an alternative to Wayfair for shutters?
For interior plantation shutters made to your window sizes, Shutter Boys makes them in solid poplar, priced online window by window, for the US and Canada. For blinds and shades, our sister company Shade Boys makes them to measure.
Is Shutter Boys connected to Wayfair?
No. They’re separate companies. This page describes Wayfair’s own pages, linked below.
