Costco shutters: Graber, Bali and Hunter Douglas programs vs Shutter Boys

The three ways Costco sells window coverings, which include shutters, the member perks, and how a DIY solid poplar shutter compares.

Updated

The short version: Costco doesn’t make shutters. In the US it sells Graber’s installed program and Bali’s members-only online store; in Canada it points members to Hunter Douglas dealers. Shutter Boys is a different route: solid poplar shutters you price online and fit yourself, in the US and Canada.

Three Costco routes to a shutter

Search “Costco shutters” and you’ll find three different things, each run by a different company. Which one you can use depends on your country and whether you want them installed.

How Costco sells window coverings, as of October 30, 2026
RouteWho makes and fits themShutters?
Graber, USGraber, through its dealers, “from selection to installation”[1]Yes: blinds, shades, shutters and drapery[1]
Bali Blinds, USBali, online for Costco members; you fit them[4]Yes: custom and DIY polymer shutters[4][6]
Hunter Douglas, CanadaA Hunter Douglas dealer; an authorized independent installer[8]Its page lists blinds, shades and draperies[8]

Graber through Costco (US)

Costco says it “has partnered with Graber to bring you blinds, shades, shutters, and drapery”, with “complete service—from selection to installation”[1]. A Costco Connection feature on the program describes the steps: you call or use Costco’s Home & Installation Services link, a Graber consultant presents colours and samples and “will take detailed measurements”, then the design and cost are confirmed and the coverings are professionally installed, with a Graber dealer staying with you through each step[2].

On Graber’s own site its shutters come in two lines: wood shutters, “Lighter than composite shutters - great choice for large windows”, and composite shutters, “Moisture resistant, making them a good option for high humidity areas such as kitchens and bathrooms”, with twenty and nine frame styles respectively. It sells them through dealers and offers a “Graber Limited Lifetime Warranty”[3].

The member perk on October 30, 2026 was a 10% Costco Shop Card on all Graber window treatment purchases, valid 10/08/26 to 12/06/26, plus a free cordless lift on qualifying shades[1].

Bali Blinds for Costco members (US)

Bali runs an online store “Available exclusively online for Costco members”, where you enter your measurements, mount and controls and check out[4]. Its DIY Shutter is made from “Durable polymer material [that] won’t fade, warp, crack, or peel”, in 2½ or 3½ in louvers, with a front tilt rod or Hide-A-Tilt, and was shown at $141.00 for 24 × 36 in on October 30, 2026[6]. Shipping in the US is complimentary[5].

Bali Custom window treatments carry a limited lifetime warranty against defects for the original purchaser, if properly installed; Bali Essentials Custom carries five years. Exclusions include sun fading and “Slight warping of wood blinds or shutters”, and claims go to Springs Window Fashions[7].

Costco Canada and Hunter Douglas

Costco Canada’s page offers a free consultation with a Hunter Douglas dealer, with “Installation performed by an authorized independent installer”. It lists custom blinds, shades and draperies; it doesn’t list shutters, so ask the dealer. The consultation is free within 40 km of a Costco warehouse, custom orders can’t be returned except for warranty repairs, and from September 28 to November 30, 2026 members got a free motorization upgrade and a 10% Shop Card[8]. Hunter Douglas’s own shutter lines are covered in our Hunter Douglas shutters guide.

Before a consultation: what to have ready

An in-home consultation, whether through Costco or anyone else, goes faster and gives a clearer quote if you’ve done a little homework. This is our own checklist, not Costco’s:

  • A list of the windows you want covered, room by room, with rough sizes. It’s also all you need to price the same windows in our designer for comparison.
  • Which rooms need what: darkness in bedrooms, privacy on the street side, moisture resistance in bathrooms. That decides wood, composite or a shade for each window.
  • The awkward ones: arched tops, angled windows, sliding doors, and windows with cranks or handles that stick out. Ask how each will be handled and priced.
  • Your trim colour, if you want the shutters to match it rather than sit beside it in a slightly different white.

Installed or DIY: where the money goes

The Graber route includes measuring and professional installation in the service[2]; Bali and Shutter Boys leave both to you[4]. That difference is part of every quote, so compare like with like: if you won’t fit shutters yourself, add an installer’s price to a DIY quote before comparing it with an installed one. We can put you in touch with an independent installer on request. If you will fit them, a shutter frame goes in with a drill, a level and an afternoon per few windows. How to install shutters

The other difference is when you see a price. With Graber you learn it after the consultation; with Bali and with us you see it before you talk to anyone[6]. Seeing it first doesn’t make a shutter cheaper, but it lets you decide which windows are worth shuttering before anyone comes to the house.

Where Costco’s routes are stronger

  • Installed for you through Graber, with measuring and fitting in the service[2].
  • A Shop Card back on Graber purchases during the offer period[1].
  • A low entry price on Bali’s polymer DIY shutter[6], and a material made for humid rooms.
  • Blinds, shades and drapery in the same order.

Where we differ

  • Solid wood on every window, in white, any colour match or a stain. Why poplar
  • No membership, and a price for every window on screen before you talk to anyone.
  • 4½ in louvers, three moulding levels, and shaped windows: arches, half-rounds, angles and circles. Arched and shaped shutters
  • Canada, shipped and priced in Canadian dollars, except Quebec for now.

How to compare a Costco quote with ours

  1. Get the Graber quote itemized by window, with the line, louver size and frame named.
  2. Price the same windows in our designer; ours excludes fitting, so add an installer’s price if you won’t fit them.
  3. Count the Shop Card as what it is: store credit, paid after the purchase[2].
  4. Compare materials, not only colour: wood, composite and polymer behave differently in sun and humidity.
  5. Read the warranty’s length, who it covers and its exclusions, such as fading or warping[7].

When a shade suits a window better

Costco’s partners sell shades too, and for some windows a shade is the better answer: a patio door, a wide window you want clear, or a room where you want light filtered rather than louvered. Our sister company Shade Boys makes patio door shades, motorized roller shades, solar shades and cellular shades to measure, and they sit well beside wood shutters in other rooms.

Which to choose

If you want shutters measured and installed for you and value a Shop Card, Graber through Costco covers that in the US. If you’re a member happy with a polymer DIY shutter, Bali is the low-cost route. If you want solid wood, a shaped window, or to order from Canada without a visit, that’s what Shutter Boys is for. Our shutters are one product: solid American poplar, made to the measurements you take, priced online window by window, and fitted by you. Price your windows

Costco, Graber, Bali, Hunter Douglas and the names of their products are trademarks of their owners. Shutter Boys isn’t affiliated with any of them, and this page isn’t endorsed by them. Common questions

Does Costco sell plantation shutters?

Yes, through partners. In the US, Costco says it has partnered with Graber “to bring you blinds, shades, shutters, and drapery”, installed, and Costco members can order Bali DIY shutters online. Costco Canada’s page names a Hunter Douglas program for blinds, shades and draperies.

How much are Costco shutters?

Bali’s members-only site showed its polymer DIY shutter at $141.00 for 24 × 36 in on October 30, 2026. Graber shutters through Costco are priced by a consultant after measuring, so there’s no online price.

What do Costco members get on window coverings?

On October 30, 2026 Costco offered a 10% Costco Shop Card on Graber window treatment purchases (valid 10/08/26 to 12/06/26). Costco Canada offered a free motorization upgrade and a 10% Shop Card on Hunter Douglas purchases from September 28 to November 30, 2026. Offers change.

What is the warranty on Costco shutters?

It comes from the maker. Graber offers a Limited Lifetime Warranty. Bali Custom products carry a limited lifetime warranty against defects for the original purchaser, with exclusions including sun fading and slight warping of wood shutters.

Is there an alternative to Costco shutters?

Yes. Shutter Boys sells made-to-measure solid poplar shutters online, priced per window before you talk to anyone, shipped to the US and Canada (not Quebec yet) for you to fit.

Is Shutter Boys connected to Costco?

No. Shutter Boys isn’t connected with Costco, Graber, Bali or Hunter Douglas; this page uses their own published pages.
