Afternoon sun

15 days a year reach 30 °C. Louvers tilted up block high sun while still letting you see out, which a curtain or vertical blind can't do.

Cold glass

A big glass door is the coldest surface in the room on a winter morning, and moisture condenses on it. Open the louvers on cold days so warm air reaches the glass, and wipe off any condensation before it reaches the wood.

Balcony doors

With 31% of homes in multi-unit buildings, many patio doors here open onto a balcony. Bifold panels fold back in pairs and need little floor space; check what your condo corporation allows to show through the glass.
