Winter outside
110 freezing nights a year mean ice and snow on anything mounted outside. Interior shutters stay out of the weather entirely and are adjusted from the room.
Changes to the outside of a house
Exterior shutters change how a house looks from the street, so an HOA or city may need to approve them. Interior shutters don't.
Aluminum inside the house
Most aluminum shutters sold today are made for outdoors. Our own aluminum interior shutters are coming in 2027, made for bathrooms and humid rooms, with a wood-look finish and the same moulding levels as our wood shutters. No price until launch.
Counting the openings in a Decatur home
Aluminum shutters are usually priced per opening. The middle detached house has 10 to 15 windows, before patio doors and basement windows.
The median Decatur home is valued at $99,600 by its owners. In Springfield, 38 miles away, the median is $162,100, higher than here.
