Shade outside the glass
With 74 days a year at 90°F or more, exterior aluminum louvers or rolling shutters can shade a window before the sun reaches the glass. Inside, tilting wood louvers control light and privacy from the room.
Winter outside
68 freezing nights a year mean ice and snow on anything mounted outside. Interior shutters stay out of the weather entirely and are adjusted from the room.
Changes to the outside of a house
Exterior shutters change how a house looks from the street, so an HOA or city may need to approve them. Interior shutters don't.
