Homes in Rialto
Rialto is a city of houses: of its 27,973 homes, 69% are detached, 2% are townhouses and other attached houses and 21% are apartments or units in buildings of two or more homes.
The 1980s and 1990s built 45% of today's homes, more than any other period we count. 44% are older than that and 10% newer. The median home dates from 1982. 66% of homes are lived in by their owners.
In nearby Fontana, 4 miles away, 28% of homes were built before 1980, so Rialto's windows are on the whole older. Nationally, Rialto's homes are newer than those in 57% of the 881 US cities we have census figures for.

Manufactured homes
8% of homes are mobile or manufactured homes, whose windows usually sit in thin walls with little depth inside the opening. An outside mount on a frame is the reliable choice there, fixed into the framing around the window rather than the thin wall panel.
Whole-house orders
With 69% of homes detached, most orders here cover a whole house: bedrooms, a patio door, perhaps a bay. Put every window in one list in the designer so the louver size and colour match from the street, and if you have an HOA, send it the drawings before you order.
Replacement windows
40% of homes went up between 1950 and 1979, and most of them have had their original windows replaced since. A replacement window often sits further into or out of the wall than the old one, so the depth you have for an inside mount may differ from window to window in the same house. Measure every opening rather than copying one.
A whole house in Rialto
The most common home in Rialto has three bedrooms: 39% of homes. Large houses are common too: 33% have four bedrooms or more. The median home has 5.4 rooms.
Detached houses are the most common kind of home here. Across the US, the middle home among detached houses has 10 to 15 windows (EIA, 2020). Shuttering that many windows at a typical bedroom-window size comes to roughly $3,200 to $6,000. For scale, that's about 0.9% of the median home value here, $487,900 (owners’ estimates, 2020–2024).
Homes here are larger than in 81% of the 881 US cities we have figures for, so a whole-house order runs to more windows than most.

Summer sun
On the 103 days a year above 90°F, closed louvers keep direct sun off the glass and out of the room. In a window that takes afternoon sun, white and light paint finishes stay cooler to the touch than dark stains.
Dry summers, wet winters
Barely any of the year's precipitation falls in June, July and August; most comes in the cool months. Wood takes on moisture in the wet season and gives it back in the dry one, so expect the panels to feel slightly tighter in winter than in summer. Fit them in the season you're in, and leave the hinge screws a quarter turn from tight until they've been through both.
