Condos and apartments
39% of homes are in multi-unit buildings, where the outside walls belong to the building. Exterior shutters usually aren't an option there; interior shutters are.
Changes to the outside of a house
Exterior shutters change how a house looks from the street, so a municipality or condo corporation may need to approve them. Interior shutters don't.
Aluminum inside the house
Indoors, aluminum usually appears as a stiffener hidden inside vinyl shutters, not as a shutter on its own. For an interior shutter, solid wood needs no metal core.
