Older facades
47% of homes are from before 1950. On an older facade, exterior shutters are often about the look of the street; check any heritage rules before changing them. Interior shutters change nothing outside.
Freeze and thaw
118 freezing nights a year put anything outside through freeze and thaw. Exterior shutters need materials and fixings made for that; interior shutters never see it.
Multi-unit buildings
38% of homes are in multi-unit buildings, whose outside walls aren't the owner's to change. Interior shutters are the option there.
