Shade outside the glass
With 85 days a year at 90°F or more, exterior aluminum louvers or rolling shutters can shade a window before the sun reaches the glass. Inside, tilting wood louvers control light and privacy from the room.
Condos and apartments
34% of homes are in multi-unit buildings, where the outside walls belong to the building. Exterior shutters usually aren't an option there; interior shutters are.
Changes to the outside of a house
Exterior shutters change how a house looks from the street, so an HOA or city may need to approve them. Interior shutters don't.
