Shade outside the glass
With 80 days a year at 90°F or more, exterior aluminum louvers or rolling shutters can shade a window before the sun reaches the glass. Inside, tilting wood louvers control light and privacy from the room.
Changes to the outside of a house
Exterior shutters change how a house looks from the street, so an HOA or city may need to approve them. Interior shutters don't.
Aluminum inside the house
Indoors, aluminum usually appears as a stiffener hidden inside vinyl shutters, not as a shutter on its own. For an interior shutter, solid wood needs no metal core.
