Shade outside the glass

With 103 days a year at 90°F or more, exterior aluminum louvers or rolling shutters can shade a window before the sun reaches the glass. Inside, tilting wood louvers control light and privacy from the room.

Condos and apartments

35% of homes are in multi-unit buildings, where the outside walls belong to the building. Exterior shutters usually aren't an option there; interior shutters are.

Aluminum inside the house

Indoors, aluminum usually appears as a stiffener hidden inside vinyl shutters, not as a shutter on its own. For an interior shutter, solid wood needs no metal core.
