A wet climate
1,160 mm of rain a year means humid spells indoors too. Painted wood handles humidity in a ventilated room; what it can't take is water landing on it. Keep wood out of shower spray, and run the bathroom fan.
Newer, shallower windows
39% of homes are recent builds, where windows often sit close to the room side of the wall. Measure the depth to the glass and to any handle: it decides which louver size tilts freely.
A mild year
Few hot days and few freezing nights mean small swings in indoor humidity, the easiest conditions there are for wood.
