In this post I am going to talk about some great ways to install these beautiful shutters into both commercial spaces like restaurants & bars, condos & apartments, as well as residential homes. We will be covering everything from the most common mistakes people make during installation, and how to ensure they get installed properly and correctly without compromising the function of the windows. So lets dive in.
We’ve covered many topics including wood type, color choice, size selection, style, hardware options, window sizing, installation methods, caulking choices, trim work required, finishing touches that should really help you decide which direction you go in first, once you’ve decided whether you should use a custom builder or DIY, the next step would be to figure out which company/installer is recommended. So lets begin…..First thing first, your builder or installer will come to assess the project and take measurements, usually 3 times until he gets them right. Then he will order materials and schedule the job to happen after the holiday period for his team members to have enough time off to complete the jobs. He takes bids to see who does the lowest amount of labor for him and gives us 10% discount on top of our initial quote…so yes sometimes it pays to have friends in high places, lol. And finally the guy puts the boards together, screws them to each other, staples them to walls and hangs the track system around them. After that he leaves. Usually when you pick up your shutters they are still hanging from the ceiling. Your home owner probably thinks “cool, I guess thats how you hang wood shutters”.
