Rather than a quick overview, I’m going to be giving each section the attention it deserves while covering many more topics, plus sharing some insight into why these changes will matter to home owners everywhere. If you’re like me, then chances are good you own a home built after 1970. And those homes typically use roll-down windows — they weren’t installed with motorization technology. While modern windows provide great benefits including energy efficiency and comfortability, traditional window designs aren’t well suited to being operated remotely through automation systems. But they still have their place on today’s market, and a few manufacturers continue producing models specifically designed for manual operation without power.
What makes them unique? For starters, most roll down window types come with a frame made exclusively of aluminum. Not only does this construction allow them to better withstand high winds and extreme temperatures, but it helps keep their price point affordable. Most other window options rely on vinyl frames which can cost upwards of $100 per square foot versus just above $30 per sq ft for aluminum framed units.
