Wood shuttering products have a lot going for them. They are beautiful, they last forever, and they offer great insulation value. Plus, they come standard with many different options for color selection. So why aren’t people flocking to this type of window covering?
Well, first of all, most people have no clue what to expect when installing wood shutters. And then there’s the problem of cost — which can be prohibitively high. If you’re like me, you probably thought that vinyl was just another type of vinyl, but I’m happy to tell you otherwise. Vinyl is actually an entirely separate material from other types of vinyl. And while the price tag isn’t quite as steep as some wood alternatives, the cost can still run upwards of $1 per square foot.
If you’re considering adding wooden shutters to the exterior of your home this year, keep these things in mind…
Vinyl is made out of polyvinyl chloride. Polymer PVC is basically plastic, but it’s a bit more durable than regular old paint.
