Introduction
In my quest to learn some basic computer programming I stumbled upon a video course called “Learn Python Programming By Doing Projects” on Udemy.
I had no prior knowledge about programming but wanted to explore and eventually build a website that can keep track of my daily productivity/achievement levels.
Since I am only going ahead after completing 2 months of projects I thought why not just write down my experiences with each project that helps me improve myself along the way.
So without further ado lets dive straight into this series starting with LearnPythonByDoingProject1.
What is Python?
Python is an interpreted language used mainly for writing scripts, web applications, network servers, etc.
Learning python is quite tricky initially but once you reach a good level things become fairly straightforward. For example if you are doing a school assignment the teacher usually gives examples and guidelines, whereas here you can see examples written by other students on google search engine.
There is actually 3 types of python tutorials; 1st type that covers basics and then intermediate type covering advanced concepts and finally the full blown python tutorial that teaches you all aspects.

Now that we are familiar with basics let us move onto coding part ?
Prerequisites:- If you wish to follow along using source files use text editor with syntax highlighting support.

How Many Windows Do I Have?
The first question you will probably ask yourself after reading this guide is “how many windows do I have?” If you answered no windows then great! You are going to love this post! We are talking about how to install California Shutters, NOT how to measure your windows. So lets jump into that topic.
California shutters come in different sizes, shapes and colours depending on who manufactures them and what style you prefer. California shutters come in 3 styles; Wood, Metal & Vinyl. Each material is available in various thicknesses. For example, wood shutters are made from solid 2″ thick slabs of real pine wood. You can find these at most home improvement stores like Lowe’s, Menards, Walmart etc.. The thicker the better because it means less light gets through.
Metal is typically thinner than wood but still offers good protection against heat gain/loss during summer months and cold weather. So you have decided to go with California shutters, but you aren’t really sure how many windows you actually have. Here we go again! Measurement is key to choosing the correct sized shutters so don’t panic! Measure all exterior walls, doors and windows. Use something flat such as a ruler or measuring tape. Make note of measurements so you do not forget any details. Once you have taken all your measurements write down the total square footage of your house/condo.
Now divide the total square feet of your property by 4.5″. The reason why we used 4.5″ instead of 5″ was to ensure the width of every single shutter is equal.
