First thing first lets take a quick tour down memory lane as some of us remember installing our wood windows. First, find a place to mount the hinges. Then measure from the bottom corner hinge hole to the top edge of each panel frame. If necessary trim down the wood slightly but leave enough material to attach the brackets to. Screw the bracket securely to the wall studs using 4 1/2 inch drywall screws. Make certain the screw heads protrude 2 inches beyond the edges of the window frames to ensure no part of the door hangs too close to the framing. Attach the upper portion of the mounting bracket to the lower edge of each window frame with 3/8 x 16 flat head sheet metal screws. Next slide the window along the guide track and adjust until it reaches the desired position. Once that’s accomplished remove the mounting bracket from below the window frame. Remove both side rails then reattach to the opposite end of the window frame. Repeat step 6 above for the other side rail.
