Most windows, including vinyl and fiberglass, can be installed in 3 days. Wood requires approximately 7 days depending on size and condition. (We offer this same timeframe estimate regardless of material choice because many customers prefer wood). We also include a complimentary 2 week follow up period as part of every installation to ensure proper fit & function.
Is there anything else I should consider?
Yes, your home needs to be insulated properly prior to installing California Shuttles. Insulation helps prevent noise transfer and thermal heat loss. Also keep in mind that all your door & trim hardware must match. Some doors come equipped with hardware while other types of doors will use different hardware than your existing house. Please refer to our Door Hardware page if you need additional advice. Doors with locksets often feature knobs instead of thumb turn handles. Knob locksets tend to hold their security better against tampering but they do present difficulties with operating them. We recommend that knob lockset owners purchase a replacement finger tip keypad lock to avoid issues during operation.
Which wood species makes the best patio coverings?
All woods used by us are certified kiln dried, pressure treated lumber. While it is possible to find untreated lumber in some parts of North America, it is extremely rare. Our experience has shown that untreated pine tends to split and expand under temperature changes, making it unusable for window/door coverings. All of our materials meet US and Canadian standards for moisture content, insect infestation resistance, weathering tolerance, strength retention properties, dimensional stability, fire rating, rot prevention qualities, appearance, uniformity, and safety.
