In 2019 there was a lot of innovation happening around building design technology. We saw many big companies and small startups trying to come up with cool ways to get things built faster and cheaper—even including robots doing construction jobs. However, no matter who came up with the idea first, these solutions tend to be proprietary and expensive because they typically require custom manufacturing tools and unique software which makes them only available to certain customers through highly selective distribution channels. So most people aren’t actually able to buy something like this yet. And even though many homebuilders say “we’ve got robotics” I’m still waiting for someone to tell me exactly how these systems would work and whether they’d really save everyone money. Meanwhile, homebuilding automation seems stuck in neutral since no single company controls everything from the ground up. Because of this, few builders seem willing to try and we’re left mostly with DIY efforts that typically go awry…and cost way too much. As far as I am concerned, the ideal solution would involve a combination of 3rd party, open source hardware/software solutions that could easily be integrated into existing projects. One example of this type of system is called Lumberyard — but unfortunately, despite its excellent reputation, Lumberyard requires you to use Windows 10 Pro (which is becoming increasingly unpopular), while also costing thousands of dollars per project. Thankfully, this isn’t necessary anymore thanks to another open source alternative named Timberframe.
Timberframe aims to automate every aspect of the entire lumber framing process — allowing builders to cut, nail, assemble, hang doors, windows, cabinets, and drywall panels themselves without ever touching anything electronic. Wood California Shutters vs. Vinyl California Shutters?
Both vinyl shutters and wooden shutters use the exact same construction techniques today. Shutters come in wide swaths of styles from traditional board style to contemporary glass block type designs. Both types of window covering material are available in flat panels, slatted shapes, and vertical blinds for privacy purposes. These various style options allow homeowners to truly customize the appearance of their home without having to make extensive alterations to the frame of the building.
There is very little difference between each other apart from wood shutters being typically better and more durable than vinyl shutters. However they both offer great advantages over other kinds of outdoor protection including aluminum shutters which often aren’t made sturdy enough for hurricane force winds. Many people still prefer wood because it seems authentic, gives them full control over their windows design while offering many of the aesthetic benefits of other materials like steel or fiberglass. Even though plastic can be cheaper but its lifespan isn’t long lasting and its cost per unit is high. Metal shutters have no design appeal whatsoever, don’t always fit well with the architecture of homes and buildings. Their color choices are extremely limited. In fact, most metal products do not come painted so they cannot simply be repainted once damaged. Fiberglass materials seem cheap but really lack any real quality at all. They can break easily under extreme conditions especially during hurricanes and storms. Some of the biggest issues with these materials include difficulty maintaining and repairing damage after wind causes damage. And then there is paint peeling away and falling off due to severe weather situations. Painting them becomes almost impossible. So why would anyone go through all this trouble to get something that will wear down quickly. Why settle for mediocrity rather than trying to achieve perfection. Well the answer is quite obvious and basic. Most people only buy things that are readily available so buying vinyl shutters and just assuming everything else is there is a lot easier. People rarely learn to appreciate good craftsmanship and superior manufacturing processes until they see something that looks the part but actually does work better. But the majority of shoppers won’t put in extra effort until they find something that fits perfectly and that costs less like good old fashioned hardware stores.

Single Paneled Shutters – These shutters are typically made of vinyl or aluminum, and usually measure 24 inches tall x 48 inches wide. Single panelled shutters are ideal for condos because they can cover large windows and doors without requiring multiple panels. However, they tend to lack style, making them less desirable than other styles. For example, double-panel shutters often include decorative trim around the edges of the top and bottom boards. Double panel shutters are great options for homeowners who want more visual impact on their homes.
Double Panel Shutters – Double pane shutters are generally considered the “best value” option. Unlike single panel shutters, double panel shutters can easily hide small leaks and gaps in the siding of your home, and they can add significant insulation properties, especially if they feature storm flaps.
