How Much Does it Really cost install shutters?

I recently did this project myself… but after doing some math it looks like my price would be around $1500 plus materials…. Not only am I paying someone else what they charge me to hang them I’m probably going through most of these items twice! So i went ahead and looked @ DIY websites just to see what type of products they sell @ $1000+ & how many different types of styles / sizes/products they stock. My experience installing the windows was quite good!!! All windows fit perfectly without anything hanging outside the window frame(ie door jambs), no extra trim installed. I used 3 1×3 boards of plywood to cover everything except the sides of the house which got vinyl siding installed instead of sheetrock wall.. it saved us approx 50 dollars per side. I took down all the old drywall first then added insulation before covering again with drywall. We had 2 layers of fiberglass putty applied first,then 4 layers each of silicone caulk over those coats. Then all corners were caulked. After applying final layer of caulk over all surfaces I wrapped it with foam tape. As a finishing touch we had the entire surface troweled smooth and painted white. We had to go back and re paint every couple months due to scratches form walking dogs ect. This is why we decided go with the cabs since they won’t get scratched up easily.
Overall we really love our home and couldn’t find any flaws, though, there are things we still wish we could’ve improved upon! First being the roofing material was installed by a friend who cut the pieces that should’nt be seen and stapled it inside the eaves making gaps there. Once finished he used duct tape under the shingle edges to hold it together. Also the roof vents were originally capped,but we decided against removing them until next spring because we felt it was worth saving the expense unless they are causing problems.

How Can I Find Out If My Window Will Fit My Door Frame Or Not? Most manufacturers will provide their own measurements, either as a part of the order form or on the back of the package. However, if yours does not include this information then it would be wise to ask your installer.
Why Shouldn’t We Go For Aluminum Frames Instead Of Vinyl? Because vinyl frames tend to warp after being installed in cold weather climates which causes problems with the window seal. Also aluminum frames are stronger than PVC which helps keep moisture out during extreme conditions.
Do All Windows Require Installation? No not necessarily. Some models come ready mounted in the wall while others come with self hanging brackets and screws. Some are made with a special adhesive that makes the installation very fast (we’ll talk about these types a bit further down).
