I have always had a fascination with airplanes but my knowledge was mostly confined to watching documentaries and hearing stories from friends who fly commercial airlines. So I decided to take matters into my own hands and purchased a flight simulator called ‘Flight Simulator X‘ from PC Games Online. It cost me around $300USD back then which meant spending hundreds of hours flying planes through virtual landscapes; a lot of fun! But that was just an innocent childhood dream until later on I picked up on the latest news that Boeing was developing a plane that could actually function remotely via wifi as opposed to being physically connected to the cockpit. And since you couldn’t really play games on the computer during takeoff and landing times due to regulations, I thought why not combine both worlds?
After years of research, development and testing, I finally received approval to test a drone fitted with a fully functional wifi antenna outside my house along with many other safety measures. I was going through some old posts about shutters & had just received a call from someone who wanted something custom built. They live in Los Angeles but they’d like to get something unique built; no store bought stuff.
They told me they’re tired of seeing the same boring stuff everywhere in LA/Orange County; and that he wants his home to be “different” and special which got my attention. He said he would consider putting together some ideas and sharing them with me once he sees where I am coming from, because obviously he wasn’t really familiar with the type of work I usually do.
He’s thinking about getting a pair of vertical blinds made in either bamboo or rattan material and then installing them down the sides along the windows inside the house. His idea is to basically put a mini curtain hanging above him instead of having those ugly white window treatments that always seem dirty and uninviting to the eye-sight when walking towards the front door. He wants to incorporate the house’s architectural style into the design of this piece of furniture. I’m assuming these will actually be the only things used in this project — maybe he could use some other trimming materials somewhere else around the walls or floors of the living space, but most definitely on the windows themselves. We’ll see after he gives me some input.
Anyways, back to why I wrote this post.
