This way, you won’t waste time searching around when you find the perfect match for your needs.
To narrow down the options, ask these questions:
Do you prefer fixed rate loans, variable interest rate mortgages, jumbo mortgages, FHA loans, VA mortgages, USDA Loans, etc.? Do you need a loan for 30 years or less, 5 or 10 years, 15, 20, 25, 35, 40, 50+? Is your monthly income high or low? Will you qualify for a 100% financing amount if necessary?
2. Find a Broker Who Has Good Reviews Online
Nowadays, most people do business with companies through word-of-mouth recommendations.
So, before contacting anyone on the phone or sending emails, check reviews first.
Look for reviews on websites like Yelp, Better Business Bureau and Angie’s List, among other sites.

So many people call us saying “I’m thinking of installing shutters but I’m confused,” “What’s the difference?”

If you’re interested only in covering your front door and lower entryways then we recommend going with a non-motorized roller shade like the ones shown above. They typically retail under $100-$150 per roll and cover large areas without consuming a noticeable amount of power. For larger homes though it isn’t usually worth spending extra dollars just yet in order to avoid using electricity.
For example, most houses tend to use about 25 watts per hour at full efficiency (meaning 75% efficient). At night you could easily spend 5k+ in an electric bill depending on usage patterns so anything smaller than 100watts should be sufficient. We’d suggest starting with a 50 watt model unless you have extremely high lighting levels where 150watt should suffice.
For non-housefront applications try a vertical blind or venetians instead of rolling shades.

Some manufacturers provide UV stabilization measures, making them somewhat resistant to fading, although they still tend to pale over time.

This company specializes in providing custom windows coverings to residential clients. Their prices vary but usually run around $200 per panel. If you would like to install these yourself then they charge $100 per person. Installation takes 2-3 business days.

They specialize in making custom designed windows to meet the needs of each individual home owner. Their price ranges are from $300-$1000+ depending on design. The average cost is approximately 600 dollars. Their products come ready to hang which saves customers money.

Pacific Bay Shutters was founded back in 2006. They have been manufacturing California style wooden shutters since 2007. Their shuttering materials include solid wood, aluminum clad shutters and fiberglass. They offer both standard and customized designs. Standard styles are from 4 feet wide x 10 ft long. Prices range from $800-$2500+. Custom sizes and designs are available upon request but may incur additional shipping charges.

Sunbrella’ s mission is to help people live better everyday by bringing beauty to life through innovative fabrics and solutions. Their shuttered are available from 8ft width x 12foot length. They sell shutters in 3 different colors including white, gray and brown. Prices begin from $600 for 8 foot panels. For custom orders Sunbrella’s minimum order quantity is 100 square footage. For larger projects, Sunbrella can assist with estimating.

In this guide I will walk you through everything you need to install your beautiful custom shutters yourself with a few tips & tricks along with some great ways to save money when installing them.
So without further ado…let’s get started!
Installing Your Shutters
Before you begin, check under your windows to see whether they already have blind slats installed or not. If they do then you’re ready to go ahead install your first window treatment.
If however, the glass isn’t covered yet, you’ll be replacing those old ones first. So grab whatever tool you use most often and remove both existing slat covers by prying upward until the entire pane is exposed. Next pull the cover aside and use a screwdriver to gently lift out each slat. Be careful not to twist the screws while removing them because these are the main fasteners used to hold down the blind assembly. Once removed, slide your fingers underneath the bottom edge of the frame and carefully work around the back side of the frame lifting it away from the wall until fully separated from it. Do note that the top side should remain connected and attached to the window sill so as no air leaks occur.
Now to put the new shutters together just remember that they’re a little different than other shutter brands. They come in pairs with one being half the size of the other. When putting the smaller of the 2 halves inside the larger frame place it against the inner wall and leave 1/4″ space between the edges of the frames. Then line up the smaller frame with its mate on the opposite side and push the whole thing into position until the edges meet flush. Use a hammer to tap the ends together firmly and secure with 2 wooden dowels. Repeat this step 3 times to complete the installation.
Finally take care of the remaining pieces which include mounting brackets and hardware. Place the bracket across the opening of the window above center height and attach it onto the top of the jamb with screws provided with the kit and then repeat the same for below center height and finally on the sides. Attach the hanging bar to the bracket on either end and hang your shutters.
