When building homes these days, many people love California Shutters because they are relatively inexpensive as well as because they offer high energy efficiency. They blend and frame beautiful views while providing privacy. And most importantly, because they keep cool air out during hot weather and warm air in during cooler times. If you live near water, you can enjoy watching the boats go past from inside your house without leaving your windows uncovered.
How Much Do These Things Cost?
Of course, no matter which model or style of shutter you select, prices vary dramatically depending upon size and quality of material chosen. As always there’s lots going on behind the scenes but as far as actual installed costs go, the average cost per window for installing single hung wooden sliders runs $150-$200+ in New York, according to Sliding Sash Door Covers.
Some companies sell only custom made sliding doors or rollup blinds so check those options carefully before buying. But overall, unless you’re planning a big renovation project, it really isn’t worth spending extra on premium materials like aluminum frames and real stained oak veneer because it’s often cheaper just to buy lower quality, more commonly available models instead.
