After doing research myself, my recommendation is to stay away from exterior painting until sometime after May 1st. But first, why should you keep your windows closed when temperatures outside remain consistently warm?
In general, experts recommend against venting air through doors and windows unless necessary due to extreme weather conditions, especially considering that opening windows can spread virus vectors indoors. However, you will notice that we did mention “extreme weather conditions” above which is exactly why we say that. While paint quality matters less than ever before, having good indoor ventilation practices does help prevent sickness spreading inside your house. A few tips include installing screens on exterior openings, sealing around door frames and keeping small children inside whenever possible.
There aren’t really any concrete rules regarding window treatments, but most homeowners opt for white, nonporous blinds for aesthetic appeal, particularly since people typically use them only partway down anyway. When choosing shades, try to pick something that won’t allow light to shine through from outdoors. In this post I will be going through some of my favorite things about installing shutters. First things first: Why install them in Chantilly VA? They really work. If someone wants to save 20% on their energy bill, then why wouldn’t they want something like that?? And if someone else has them already, but they’re leaking…they probably weren’t put up correctly. I’ve seen this happen way too many times. That’s fine, until they find themselves having to pay a lot extra each year in repairs. But hey, if you’re reading this article today, chances are that you’ve found your solution.
So what did I pick, you ask? Well, for me personally, I chose vinyl. I chose Vinyl Shutters specifically for several reasons. One big reason was that they come standard with a lifetime warranty. Another reason, although less significant, was that they are relatively cheap to purchase (compared to other types). They are made primarily from vinyl or polyvinyl chloride, PVC. These products tend to hold up well against moisture and temperature variations. However, because the material is soft, care must be taken while setting up the shutters. Also, since this type of plastic cannot withstand heat, these shutters won’t perform well during summer months.
Another thing to note is that most manufacturers require screws and nails. While this does help prevent warping and tearing of the material, I would suggest investing in a good quality hammer and screwdriver set. For screwing, you could try putting a rubber mallet underneath, however I would recommend buying screwdrivers with soft tips rather than steel ones.
