Architectural Shutters usually consist of 5 parts: top track, bottom stile, window glazing, vertical rails and end brackets. For instance, roller edge architectural shutters have rollers along both sides of the frame so they move smoothly across windows unlike traditional horizontal wood framed shutters which tend to drag against each other causing problems. What Is A Vinyl Composite Door?: An insulated door made primarily of vinyl composite material — typically PVC foam core covered with either vinyl cladding or plywood skins. Doors manufactured this way are generally less expensive than full fiberglass doors, but they aren’t nearly as strong. They’re usually painted white or tan, though some manufacturers offer them in other colors.
Are Your Windows Ready For New Siding?: When replacing siding or adding another siding style or color, a good rule of thumb is to wait until the existing exterior trim around windows and doors has settled down enough to allow proper alignment with the replacement siding. But if you’ve built onto your home and know exactly which window needs what type of trim, then go ahead and install. Otherwise, be patient because if your builder did his job correctly, he will remove old trim once he has installed new. And remember, if you are going through a third party contractor to take care of things like drywall removal, painting, carpeting or floor refinishing, those jobs must get completed first—and preferably well in advance. So unless they happen simultaneously, be prepared to pay extra for these final touches after work commences.
How Do I Install My Own Vinyl Trim?: If you prefer DIY shuttering projects, it’s actually quite straightforward, especially if you are installing the same style of vinyl on multiple locations in a building. We recommend using polyurethane tape and cutting along the edges rather than gluing strips together. Use painter’s masking tape if working indoors and wear protective gear outdoors. Make certain each piece fits tightly against both sides; use a pencil point or straight edge to ensure an exact fit every time. Remember to apply pressure evenly, making sure no corners bulge outwardly. After applying tape across all edges, press flat against walls, ceilings, and floors inside the area where you intend to hang shiplap or batten shutters. Be careful not to damage wall surfaces or paintwork during the taping phase. Once taped in place, cut pieces slightly larger than desired width, allowing 2″, 3″ and 4″ overhang on each side. Remove excess tape at joints (where two adjacent lengths meet).
