There seems to be no end in sight to high rise living. So many questions! Here’s my quick breakdown of the 5 different types of shutters and how each is typically installed. Wet Lipped Vinyl: Made of soft PVC plastic or polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Usually manufactured in either wood grain and white/cream colors or painted colors like brown, black, gray or other pastel hues. These shutters usually come without hardware and simply attach to existing window frames requiring no custom trim work. Dry Lipped Vinyl: Similar to wet lip shutters except they include weather stripping and hardware inside the frame. Typically made of rigid PVC or cedar materials. Can be installed over existing windows, doors, archways or built-ins. Also available with hardware for sliding glass patio door.Wood California Shutters: Custom cut lumber pieces with tongue & groove joints, often stained dark walnut or natural oak tones. Some models feature real wood inlay panels while others use stainable MDF board covered with premium quality varnish. Built-ins, gables, bay windows are just a few styles that can incorporate wood Cali shutters along with trimwork, crown molding and architectural accents.Customizable: Available in sizes ranging from 4 feet wide to 24 inches tall, these unique Cali shutters can easily adjust to fit the dimensions of any space; perfect for custom homes.

How to Measure Your Windows and Doors First, measure all four corners of each side of your window frame to determine the exact size. Next, use a ruler to mark a line across the top edge of the inside of each door jamb. Then, draw lines parallel to the edges of the door jambs. These marks should extend past the width of the door frame by 2 inches.
Window Treatments Installation Tips. When measuring, keep an eye on the height measurement because the thickness of your shutters varies depending upon which material they’re made from. For example, vinyl shutters tend to range anywhere from 1 1/4 inch to 2 inches thick.

What Is A Shade Curtain?
