In this post I will be sharing my experience buying & installing Cali shutters for both our condo/home project in 2020 and our next home improvement project which is scheduled for early 2022. He sent me an email with his quote of $14K and gave me several days to come back with another bid. At that point I called Shutterboys who told me they could install our custom wood shutters in 3 working days for around $8k including labor. They agreed to meet us at the job site to show us some samples which took less than 5 minutes but they wanted $4200 cash upfront. We refused the price and went ahead with my contractor. After 2 weeks of fighting with them over everything from the paint color selection for the front doors to whether we should pay additional money for blinds on each window, we finally came to terms on a final price of $12600 after all of these negotiations. When we got the bill, I noticed there was a charge for the sample shutters and a separate charge for the blinds. My thought was why would they charge a deposit to purchase something then charge extra for adding blinds after you purchased those same shutters?? Needless to say, I did not like the way things turned out and contacted Shutterboys again asking them to refund half of the cost of the shutters since I already paid them half of the amount. Within 24 hours, they had shipped out some brand spanking new shutters and delivered them on Tuesday evening. On Thursday morning our installer came along prepared to put down the trim pieces on top of the shutters and install the rest.
