If you read my “California Shutter Trends” post you’ll notice that I said that the “Trendy Color Palette Will Be More Pastel.” But I’m going to explain why that’s true below. I hope to help you see things differently with regards to colors and styles for your project(s).
First of all, let’s take a step back and understand that there are actually several types of wooden siding for homes and condos. These include, the Vinyl Siding, Fiberglass Sheeting, Hardboard Paneling, Stucco, Brick, Stone… and many other options. However, the vast majority of homeowners use Wood to board up their house because it looks beautiful, has better insulation qualities than vinyl, and lasts longer.
So, let’s go through some trends that will impact the industry. First, we’ve got the pastel color palettes. As you can tell from above picture, I like bright blue and green tones, but they aren’t necessarily popular among builders or installers anymore. They used to be extremely trendy, but they’re no longer the case. Why? Because people wanted something different. People wanted muted tones, and we found ways to get them without having to paint every single window. So, instead of painting everything white with just a few accent windows, we could use shades of gray, brown, tan, teal… whatever. And that’s exactly what happened.
But let’s keep moving forward. Next, I mentioned in my prior posts that we are seeing less square footage being built today… which makes sense because there isn’t really enough space left to put another bedroom, bathroom, kitchen area inside of a typical suburban condo.
