First thing’s first, measure each side of every single window in your house/condominium. This includes windows where you’d normally expect to see a door (like bathrooms). Then take the average measurement of those sides (usually 2 inches). You’ll use this figure along the way because it gives you a general idea of the size of your windows.

When taking a reading, hold the tape level against the center of the glass (so if it says 4’4″, point it at the middle part of the window frame).
