Cost of California Shutters in Ajax Ontario
There could be many factors influencing the price, including size, type, material, and whether they come with hardware. We will help determine these things during this discussion.
What Size Do I Need? For the most part, a standard 8ft x 10ft bay window requires approximately 4-6 panels per side to cover them completely, though some types of windows only use 3 panels per side; therefore, they would require fewer panels than a traditional 10ft x 12ft bay window. If this is not enough coverage, then a 10 ft wide version would be necessary, but it would cost extra money because each panel costs $2,000+ per foot.
So, if you require additional coverage, consider buying multiple windows and placing them closer together. For example, a 9′ x 13′ window covering the width of 2 bays and 1 row on 10 feet high windows would equal 3 total panels which equals 5 for every single 8ft length.
How Do They Work? As previously mentioned, shutters typically require 3-4 panels. Some manufacturers offer a higher percentage of solid glass while other manufacturers use clear vinyl or polycarbonate sheeting instead of plywood. A shutter must be able to withstand winds above 70mph in order to perform adequately in windy locations like Southern California so they cannot simply have thin veneer or plastic sheets on top of the wooden frame without reinforcing it. The thicker the better! However, thinner materials still work well since they allow light and air through.
For those wanting more security, California Shutters offers products with a reinforced steel backing on certain models. Most companies charge anywhere from $600-$1,200 dollars per door for the addition of the reinforcement depending upon the thickness of the metal used and the style of closure desired. Another common feature found in premium quality shutters is the weather resistant locking system located either on the inside or outside of the opening and the ability to roll the window down easily. Additionally, there should be no visible holes in the exterior of the shutter allowing rainwater and insects to enter the home.

Many owners believe that installing wooden slats permanently onto the window frames of their homes increases energy efficiency and helps prevent water penetration by preventing drafts coming into their houses. But according to several California builders and architects interviewed by San Diego Living Magazine, most contractors say that this form of shading does nothing to help save their clients money on heating and cooling bills, since air exchange occurs naturally without the added support structures. Plus, some experts believe this design creates potential safety hazards for older adults suffering from dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
Flexible Options: If you live somewhere that experiences milder climates, you can use retractable solar screens called Flexi Solar Screens. These are available in five different models ranging from standard polycarbonate designs to custom products created entirely of stainless steel or aluminum. Another type of alternative screen technology is thermal insulated glass.

While there are other brands offering battery powered solar panels some people believe this does little more than increase complexity and costs unnecessarily. For them the tradeoff between comfort and efficiency isn’t worth the extra price.
So what exactly makes a good solar power shutter? There are several other factors to consider besides trimming. One of the most important considerations is size. If you live somewhere sunny enough to warrant installing large patio curtains then you probably won’t benefit from buying a smaller model that only raises the lowest 1″ section of the blind. If you want maximum coverage and maximum security they recommend going all the way up to 5′ tall while keeping the width roughly 60% of their length. As far as color goes, while white shades work well to block visible sunlight they can actually reflect heat back inside reducing the overall temperature of the space. Black and dark green shades tend to absorb rather than scatter light therefore increasing cooling load. Most manufacturers suggest avoiding these darker colors unless installed under a porch ceiling. Lastly price shouldn’t always be the deciding factor either.

Wood California Shutters vs. Vinyl California Shutters?
In this update edition, I will cover some great ways they each work together (or against each other). We have added three popular designs that come both in vinyl (the most common type) and real wood.
(Wood shutters usually cost slightly more than vinyl.)
We did research on these styles so you could easily pick which would be better suited for your home/condominium and still maintain a beautiful aesthetic for years to go by.
1) “Rugged Exterior Style”
This style uses large horizontal slats (made of either wood or vinyl), and a top panel made of solid wood. These exterior shutters are used mostly for outdoor settings, but they are beautiful additions indoors and outdoors — and often times cheaper than buying custom wood windows! They offer lots of natural light while maintaining privacy without having to spend thousands of dollars doing window replacement projects.
2) “Modern Rustic Interior Design Style”
These shutters use small vertical wood slats like mini picture frames (usually four per square foot) placed around the wall. Some are painted while others are stained. When installed correctly, these allow plenty of sunlight inside AND keep the view outside nice & private. Many people install them as a way to hide unsightly holes in walls! If you prefer a classic design that adds warmth, then modern rustic is probably for you.
3) “Tropical Tiled Modern” (also called “Puerto Rican Shutter Trend)
These shutters are similar to #2 above but instead use tiles that mimic those found on many tropical beaches. Most commonly tile colors include white, teal blue, and red orange. These can typically be purchased through retailers like Lowe’s and Bed Bath & Beyond; however, a few specialty shops sell high quality products that match up to the originals.
