In this post I am going to show my top ten favourite apps for Windows 10 Mobile that will be available soon. 1. Evernote
I really like Evernote and use it daily to jot down notes and capture screenshots. It syncs across PCs/MacOS & Android/iOS devices which makes life easier. It’s great for capturing things on websites and taking quick snaps with your phone camera. One feature I particularly love is ‘Snap Mode’ which allows me to quickly snap photos without having to press the button every few seconds. Another great feature is that you get the ability to search through notes and images. For example searching for “Windows 10” brings back all the times when I’ve used that phrase on Twitter. You can even save web pages as PDF files. I’m also impressed with how easy it was to get started with and how well structured the UI was. The app does crash occasionally but usually just reboots so no worries there.

2. Groove Music Pass
Groove offers music streaming service in partnership with Spotify. The difference with Groove is that it’s ad-supported while Spotify isn’t (yet). However, Groove is cheaper than Spotify ($9 per month instead of $15), has a better catalogue of songs (around 50 million versus 30 million at present) and the app looks nicer. It’s still early days, though, since Spotify hasn’t launched yet. So far, Groove seems to be getting better reviews than Spotify, although it could be biased towards people who already own Apple products.

In this post I will talk about the top 5 things I wish someone had told me years ago. And no – these aren’t “old fashioned/stodgy ideas” — they apply to nearly every homeowner trying to find the perfect shutters for their home. While I have spent countless hours researching for many posts on my website covering everything from color combinations and patterns through DIY options like custom windows (and those who made them), California shutters, and building science for better designs, I found myself wanting to pass along some useful information in a short format.
So without further ado, here goes..
1. No matter how beautiful your design looks in Pinterest or Instagram, it does NOT reflect reality. Before ordering shutters on Amazon or buying a sample (which often ends poorly — see above #3), take measurements yourself or hire an experienced fitter / carpenter to measure & install your shutters. Even if you live in Cali, most builders follow standard measuring practices which vary significantly across the province and country. A few inches difference can be noticeable once installed. 2. Always select the same type and style of door hardware (locksets, latches, hinges). For example, go with double cylinder deadbolts because single cylinders have moving parts inside the cylinder that need lubrication regularly. Also it makes sense to avoid cheap materials (like plastic), especially when choosing wood products. 3. Take advantage of framing professionals. When dealing with anything larger than 10 feet wide or 12′ long, consider hiring contractors to install the clapboard siding/framing (wood panel wall system). Yes, sometimes homeowners decide they want to frame themselves; but in general, having professionals handle this aspect makes a huge difference in cost and quality at the end result. 4. If possible, try installing the window frames first and then the glass next. It saves money by cutting down on the amount of plywood required during construction when doing multiple layers of panes of glass. Aesthetically speaking, I would suggest putting your main focus into designing & planning the aesthetics of each piece (hardware, trim, paint colors, etc.).
