If windows face north and west sunlight penetrates right behind them rather than shining on the shutter surface and reflecting away.
This causes heat gain which increases air conditioner usage and requires less cooling in summer months. After researching and reviewing many DIY blogs, I decided to go ahead & buy one myself since I had seen lots of people doing great jobs installing them themselves. I also wanted the ability to close the blinds at night during winter months without having curtains blow inside the house. Before you begin building shelves or organizing cabinets, be sure that everything you hang on those walls is actually securely screwed into place. Sometimes using screws that work against drywall isn’t enough; you’ll need some extra support for heavier items. A screw jigger makes quick work of drilling holes accurately spaced every 16 inches or whatever spacing you prefer. Just follow the steps below to drill straight pilot holes and then drive screws quickly and easily.
This product includes 10 2 inch x 3/4 inch wooden dowels used for hanging things onto wall. Be careful while drilling because it’s sharp end could hurt you. A good way to avoid injury would be taking a step back whenever possible while performing this task. Use caution.
How to measure tape: Using a measuring stick or ruler take measurement starting 1 foot away from edge of door frame and stop after marking point. Then use mark across top corner of opening measuring 24″. Make sure this dimension fits snugly around entire perimeter of opening including sides and bottom.
